Disney Pixar has released a range of images and concept art for cancelled production Newt on its Facebook page, teasing fans over what could have been.
Announced in 2008, the film was supposed to hit cinemas in 2012, but earlier this year sources said that it had been taken of the studio‘s production schedule to make room for the likes of Cars 2.
The film was supposed to tell the story of the last two blue-footed newts, destined to mate in order to save the species.
After some confusion, including Disney/Pixar‘s animation head John Lasseter declining to comment on the film‘s status, the future of the movie was set straight after images of the production were uploaded to Pixar‘s Facebook page last Friday.
The images were accompanied by the caption: “As most of you already know, “Newt“ is no longer in development at Pixar. However, that doesn‘t mean we can‘t share some of the Pixar artists‘ amazing artwork with our Facebook fans!”
Take a look at the page to see what could have been if Pixar made Newt.
